My interest in gardening began in the winter of 2009, a strange time of year I know, encouraged and guided by my good friends Jean and Raewyn. I remember Raewyn’s tour of nurseries in the wind and the rain buying, what looked to me like dead plants. I can’t describe the thrill of that first spring when wonderful plants began to emerge from my newly made beds, made more exciting by the fact that I had no idea what any of them were going to turn into.

I have come a long way in just over a year and my garden has become my obsession. I am no expert but at least I now know the names of some of the plants growing there.

I have decided that it will be useful to keep a photo diary/blog to record developments and to give me somewhere to ramble (with words, not feet!).
